Sound Measurement

Sound level meters measure sound pressure level and are commonly used in noise pollution applications for the quantification of almost any noise, but are especially used in the workplace, environment, entertainment and transport sectors.

In the workplace it is estimated that over 2 million people in the UK are exposed to noise levels at work that maybe harmful. European Union Directives from 2005 have been expanded by the HSE in the UK to help protect the UK workforce.

Environmental noise is a major issue in most countries, especially in areas of high population, and the sources of noise and their adverse effects on our well-being are varied. The common sources are vehicles and aircraft along with construction sites and the entertainment sector, who are now expected to comply with the UK standards.
